There are several types of Gore-Tex shoe membranes.

- GORE-TEX® Extended Comfort Footwear - a thick, protective membrane with medium breathability. Designed for 3-season hiking and trekking. The most popular membrane in universal transition shoes.
- GORE-TEX® Invisible Fit - The thinnest and most breathable of the Gore-Tex membranes. Designed for high intensity activities and summer. Designed for sports, short high-intensity activities. Not intended for long hikes in wet weather.
- GORE-TEX® Insulated Comfort Footwear - thick, highly waterproof membrane with thermal insulation . Designed for winter, mountaineering. The best protection against water, but the least breathability.
